How much do you know about Superfoods and how they benefit your health?  If you’re like I was before I did this research, then probably not much, but you need to listen up because this stuff is important.  Here are my picks for 11 best superfoods for your health (and why you need them).

Let’s face it, you are probably not getting enough of the “good stuff” into your daily diet.  In fact, I would say that the average person’s diet could safely be described as “mostly crap”.  How can I be bold?  Well, just look at the people you meet as you go through your daily life.  Most people aren’t what I would describe as shining pictures of health.  11 Best Superfoods For Your Health (And Why You Need Them)

There are as many reasons for this as there are lives on the planet, but that’s for another article.  I’m just pointing out the obvious, that most people could benefit from an increase in quality nutrients taken into their bodies.  Are you one of them?  If so, then join me for a countdown of 11 of the most amazing foods that you can put into your body to help you look and feel better every day

 

11.  Chlorella

Let’s start our countdown with chlorella.[2]  It’s a good source of protein, fats, carbohydrates, fiber, chlorophyll, vitamins and minerals. I take it every day. If you’re the type of person that can’t get through the day without caffeine, or if you’re constantly feeling down, you should consider chlorella.  It will help you bounce back with energy.  It also detoxes heavy metals from the body, supports a healthy immune system, detoxes radiation and chemotherapy, promotes weight loss, fights cancer, and lowers blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

 

10. Moringa Leaf

At number 10 is moringa leaf. I absolutely love it! This stuff has some truly amazing effects on our bodies.  For example, one study[3] showed that moringa leaf can increase insulin secretion after even a single dose! while another indicated that it improves glucose tolerance, glycogen synthesis and lipid metabolism in alloxan-induced diabetic rats.  Also if you are familiar with anybody who is dealing with cancer, the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute showed that it’s effective at getting rid of 93% of lung cancer cells.  The best remedies come from nature!

 

 

9. Spirulina

Number nine is spirulina.  Spirulina is amazing, for a lot of reasons, but one of the most amazing is that it’s neuro-protective. It helps with Alzheimer’s disease and contains four times the antioxidants of blueberries.  Pretty amazing, huh.  Taking it gives me a cleansing feeling inside.  I have also noticed that when I take it, my dreams are more vivid and memorable.  This could be because it detoxes your pineal gland.

 

 

8. Mint

Mint is number eight on our countdown. Mint is absolutely amazing!  Here are just a few of the reasons I love it so.  It’s antimicrobial, antiviral, anti-tumor, anti-allergenic and antioxidant properties.

 

 

7. Matcha Green Tea

Matcha green tea number is our number seven.  I am crazy about this stuff.  Matcha has L-theanine in it which is actually a nootropic, and just in case you don’t know what nootropics are, they are basically substances that enhance cognitive functioning.  Some are naturally-occurring, while other are made in a lab (my simplified definition).  They have been growing in popularity over the past several years.  Everybody wants to be quicker, they wanna be smarter, L-theanine and matcha can help with that.

 

 

6. Wheatgrass

Number six is wheatgrass.  Consuming one ounce of wheatgrass a date is equivalent to eating two pounds of dark-greens.  Wheatgrass also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.  It can be used to help relieve stomach pain and improve symptoms of other gastrointestinal problems.  It has been suggested that it is effective for cancer prevention and treatment.  It is known for fighting infections, treating gastrointestinal distress, and some even claim that it is useful for preventing and treating diabetes.

 

 

5. Ashwagandha

At number five we have Ashwagandha. This one definitely lives up to it’s “Super” name.  It’s been shown to reduce nervousness, stress and people even report seeing relief from depression, as well. It’s one of the only compounds on the planet that helps with neurogenesis, which is, the formation of brain cells.  Amazing, right!  But wait, there’s more.  Ashwagandha can reduce blood sugar levels, has anti-cancer properties, can reduce cortisol levels, and can also boost testosterone and increase fertility in men!

 

 

4. Turmeric

Our number four Superfood is turmeric. Some studies suggest that it is superior to Prozac, if you can believe that! It is also an amazing anti-inflamatory.  If you know anything about disease, then you understand that inflamation a known cause of all kinds of diseases, and turmeric is one of the best natural anti-inflamatory substances available.  It is also known to dramatically increases the antioxidant capacity of the body, boost brain-derived neurotrophic factor, is linked to improved brain function and a lower risk of brain diseases.  Turmeric is good for just about everything.

 

 

3. Lemon

Number three is lemon.   There is plenty to say about the benefits of lemon, but how about this one.  The oil in the peel of lemons is one of the only things that helps with phase 2 liver detoxification.  And that’s what helps your body eliminate and push out the toxins that you have been holding on to and making you feel less than your best. They are also fantastic for juicing.  When I do juice it, though, I always check to be sure that it’s organic, and I juice the peel, too.

 

 

2. Beets

Super food two is beets. Beets boost stamina.  Athletes who participate in distance competitions swear by to it’s ability to help them keep going by boosting their endurance.  Some have even reported that they could go 30% longer just downing a liter of beet juice before their competitions.  Another fantastic thing about beets is that increase nitric oxide production, which is a key to the endurance factor, but is also shown to help with anti-aging.

In at number one is monk fruit. Monk fruit is a 170x sweeter than sugar, and it’s also a potent anti-allergenic.  Who knew?

 

So, if you are trying to combat any disease or illness, are wanting to look, think, or feel better, I most definitely recommend adding these eleven powerhouses into your diet.  Without a doubt, you would begin to feel like a new person.

But let’s be honest with each other for just a minute.  You made it this far the article.  You’ve probably learned a thing or two about the best super foods on the planet.  You might have even added a few to your Whole Foods shopping list.  But the likelihood of your going and adding all of these to your basket, paying a small fortune for them, bringing them home, cleaning, chopping, and processing them into their optimal form for your body to absorb is pretty slim, right?

And don’t even get me started on juicing….  As much as I enjoyed the fresh juice and the way that it made me feel, I have a very busy life.  Who has 40 minutes a day to wash, peel, & process enough fruits & veges to get 12 ounces of juice? Not to mention cleaning up, wiping down the kitchen and the juicer.  And the sink full of dishes.  Better hope the dishwasher has been emptied….🤔

 

The Worst Part

And we can’t forget the part that really burned me up:  The waste.  I couldn’t stand to see all of that food going to waste!  My juicer, not a cheap one, mind you, did it’s best to extract as much juice as possible, but it doesn’t get it all.  A lot of it ends up going into your pulp catcher.  The juice that you just did all of that hard work to extract, left in the pulp.

But what about all of those pulp recipes on Pinterest?  Yeah, I tried about a dozen of them, but after you have taken the very essence out of the food, you really don’t have a lot to work with except some colorful fiber.  Great idea, falls short in execution.  Been there, done that.
